Member States of European Union according to the Directive 2008/56/EU must firstly evaluate the ecological status of waters and the impact of anthropogenic activities. This evaluation includes, inter alia, the analysis of fundamental characteristics of water (physical and chemical characteristics, habitat types, animal and plant population, etc).

As Greece is famous for its beaches, in order to monitor the quality of bathing waters has been harmonized with the new Directive 2006/7/EU through JMD 8600/416/E103/2009 (GG 356Β’/26-2-2009) and participates in the international “Blue Flags” program. In our laboratory we perform all physical, chemical and microbiological analysis, which are required for the quality control of bathing waters in accordance with the program “Blue Flags”.

Moreover, in response to the fact that marine fish farming has now established itself as the fastest growing sector of our country's primary production (the Greek production corresponds to 52% of the Mediterranean and in 48% of European). In Tsakalidis Analysis Testing laboratories we can provide the feasibility analysis which required under the quality control of aquaculture units in accordance with the Directive (2000/60/EU91/493/EC).
